Growing up in Grand Rapids, Michigan I became involved in theatre at the age of 12. Starting as an actor I really enjoyed performing. I soon realized though that my passion was for the entire experience of the theatre, and not just performing. That same year I convinced the theatre to let me crew on some shows. This allowed me to artistically affect the production on many different levels.
I continued to perform until I was 18 years old when I made a choice to focus on stage management at NCSA. Performing allowed me to receive a significant amount of formal training in acting, singing, and dancing. This training continues to help me in my technical positions, primarily stage management where I need to communicate and understand the performers.
I have over nine years of technical theatre experience in almost every technical position possible. My formal training as a stage manager has improved my organizational skills, and taught me how to form a better understanding of how to link a director’s artistic vision with the technical side of production.
As a sound engineer / operator at a music hall for the summer of 2006 I learned how to adapt to an ever changing environment while delivering a quality product with little or no notice.
At twenty-two years old, not only do I have great experiences, I have energy and a passion to excel.
